I've searched around a bit and was not able to find anyone else who has presented this question. I'm trying to include a virtual server's esxi host name that its residing on in a down node email alert. I could obviously look at vcenter for the answer or do a lookup in solarwinds, but when we receive a blast of down alerts it would be extremely helpful to know which esxi host(s) that the the downed virtuals are residing on.
I have been working with the VIM_VirtualMachines and VIM_Hosts tables but am unable to make the alert grab the esxi host name or Id specific to the downed virtual server. Is there anyone who has gotten this to work or would be able to throw some suggestions my way? Maybe I'm going at this the wrong way - I'm a noob when it comes to SQL queries!!!! Thanks in advance.
